Persona

School by day, other worlds by night. Each numbered Persona is its own story — start with any.

Persona

What it is: Japanese RPGs that mix everyday school life with dungeon battles in hidden worlds.
The story: A group of teenagers discover powers called Personas and fight to uncover a supernatural mystery over one school year.
How connected are the games?: Barely. The numbered games are separate stories. Spin-offs like Strikers continue their own game.
How many do I need to play?: One. Persona 5 Royal is the usual first pick; 3 Reload and 4 Golden are just as good.

Play order

Independent stories — start with whichever setting appeals. Spin-offs come after their main game.

Only games checked for PS4 or PS5 link to a PlayStation page; the others are marked "not checked yet".
